Welcome to the Carnival Project. We are a group that provides and delivers projects to a variety of music hubs and schools in London. Some of our customers have been Hackney, Greenwich, Islington Music Hubs and the Rhythm Music Charity.
Our Flagship course is Carnival Rhythms “The Power of Rhythms". This is a 10 x 1hr workhop that includes a brief historic and cultural background to carnival music plus hands on energetic participation of (Samba, Samba Reggae, Conga de Comparsa, Candombe, Funky beats and other fusions ) maximum of 70 participants, with all instruments and earplugs provided. The projects and workshops that we provide could be modified to suit your requirements from a day taster to an all year round Bateria development course. We have had schools performing at the Royal Festival Hall,Troxy. Hackney Empire, Birmingham NEC and Borough beats after just 9 hrs of learning. Some of the children that we have taught have represented Hackney (Hackney Bateria) in the numerous events including Gateway 2 music at Sadlers Well for Sir Jack Petcheys' birthday. Other groups have represented the Carnival Project Bateria at the Greenwich festival 2016 and City of London Festival Procession 2011, 2013 and 2015. Bateria groups have numbered between 30-200 participants.
Michael has over 30 years experience in the music industry. He is one of the founder members of Justice and Uxbridge St records part of the Bucks Music Group. Michael has performed with and been taught by some of the UK based premier, West African, Brazilian and Cuban percussionists including Lazaro Hernandez (Cuba),BoscoDe Oliveira, and the late Pato Fuentes and Alan Hayman ( some of the founder members of the London school of samba and Paraiso school) . He has been teaching for over twenty years for various schools,colleges and other establishments.He has conducted groups ranging from 30-200 participants!!!!
